The Orchard Building, located at the eastern entrance to the Weizmann Institute, is a youth laboratory building at the Davidson Institute, including multidisciplinary scientific laboratories. In the center of the laboratory building is a large atrium and outdoor laboratories that allow for various types of scientific experimentation, and informal meetings with the institute’s staff and researchers. The building is built of innovative wood panels (CLT) that allow construction with minimal ecological damage, and in fact the building material, which comes from designated forests, significantly reduces the amount of carbon emissions that occur in each construction activity.
The building is an architectural lesson, but at the same time also an ecological lesson and a lesson in the use of innovative technologies to reduce the damage of conventional construction.
